I use black and white often in my barn paintings. The black and white along with the golds of the country field and pink sky make a nice contrast. Most of my folk art paintings have tinting and glazing. Sometimes I tint the entire painting after it is almost complete and then paint in the details again. Some paintings have as much as 5 layers of tinting. If a specific area needs special attention I may just tint the one area and then work it up again to a more complete finish. The surface of the watercolor paper makes a beautiful texture that enhances the contrast and peaceful colors in this rolling country landscape.
